Privacy policy
In short: I collect only what I need to carry out your search, I never sell it, and this website uses no advertising cookies or trackers.
Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is Armand SELLIER EI, trading as "Found My French Ancestor", 3 allée de la Querdouda, 44500 La Baule-Escoublac, France. Contact: contact@foundmyfrenchancestor.com.
Your data is processed in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Data Protection Act (loi Informatique et Libertés).
What data I collect
- Your contact details: first name, last name, email address, country.
- Your request: the information about your ancestor and the documents you choose to send (photos, scans).
- For a gift: the name and email address of the person receiving it, and your message.
- For a withdrawal: your details and the order concerned.
- Payment: handled entirely by Stripe. I receive confirmation of the payment and the last digits of the card, but never your full card number.
Information about deceased ancestors is not personal data within the meaning of the GDPR. Documents you send may, however, mention living people: I handle them with the same care.
Why I use it, and on what legal basis

| Invoicing and accounting | Legal obligation |
| Handling withdrawals, complaints and disputes | Legal obligation, and legitimate interest |
I do not send newsletters or advertising, and I do not use your data for profiling.
How long I keep it
- Request not followed by an order: 3 years after our last contact.
- Client file (request, correspondence, results): 5 years after the end of the service, the period during which a claim can be made.
- Invoices and accounting records: 10 years, as required by French law.
- Documents you send (photos, scans): deleted 12 months after your order, unless you ask me to keep them for a later search.
- Gift recipient's details: deleted once the gift has been delivered, apart from what must be kept for invoicing.
Who receives it
Your data is never sold or rented. It is only shared with the service providers I need, who process it on my behalf:
- Netlify, Inc. (United States): website hosting and reception of the forms.
- Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ireland): payment processing.
- OVH SAS (France): professional email.
Netlify and Stripe may process data in the United States. These transfers are covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, to which they are certified, and by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Cookies
This website uses no advertising cookies, no audience measurement and no trackers, so no consent banner is needed.
Your browser may remember your preferred currency on your device (local storage). This information never leaves your device and you can erase it at any time from your browser settings. The payment page, hosted by Stripe, uses the cookies necessary for payment security.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. You can also give instructions on what should happen to your data after your death.
To exercise these rights, write to contact@foundmyfrenchancestor.com. I reply within one month.
If you believe your rights are not respected, you can lodge a complaint with the French data protection authority, the CNIL (www.cnil.fr), or with the authority of your country of residence.

The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Card details are entered only on Stripe's secure page. Access to your files is limited to me.
